Mayor Tim Keller officially announced Thursday that he is running for a third term as Mayor of Albuquerque.
“At City Hall, we are relentless problem solvers, tackling Albuquerque’s toughest challenges head-on every day,” Keller wrote in a statement. “We hear your concerns about long-standing local issues, compounded by the turmoil from Washington, D.C. That’s why now, more than ever, Albuquerque needs an experienced fighter who will protect its future — and that’s why I’m running for reelection.”
Keller wrote that he will continue to focus on crime reduction, safety from gun violence, homelessness, visionary revitalization and ensuring families have financial help and housing.
“Albuquerque has fought too hard for progress, we can’t let anyone take that away from us,” Keller wrote. “We must continue to fight to make our city the place we know it can be — for all our families.”
Keller plans on using public financing to fund his campaign. His announcement comes after Darren White — former Bernalillo County sheriff, state cabinet secretary and one of Keller’s most vocal critics — announced last week that he would run for mayor.
There are three other candidates who have filed to run for mayor — Mayling Armijo, Eddie Varela and Patrick Sais. Armijo, a former county economic development manager, was the first to announce a run for mayor and plans to use private financing to fund her campaign.
While he hasn’t officially made an announcement, Albuquerque City Councilor Louie Sanchez said he is exploring the idea of a mayoral run. Sanchez formerly served as an officer, detective and sergeant with the Albuquerque Police Department and has also been a vocal critic of Keller and APD Chief Harold Medina.
Both the mayor and the governor of Albuquerque and the whole state of New Mexico they both need to be kicked out.
Tim Keller is worthless and always has been did nothing for Albuquerque and will not again.
As a citizen of the Mark Twain neighborhood, located in the New Mexico Fairgrounds area, we can not stand another term of this man as our mayor! He has done nothing but increase the crime, then lie to us by manipulating with statistical numbers to make himself look good. When we had a neighborhood meeting regarding one of the most important decisions for our city, The decision on what is to happen with our Fairgrounds, he couldn’t be bothered to even show up. This shows you his concern for the citizenry of Albuquerque. I guess there wasn’t enough cameras for him. He has allowed our Police department to reach an all time low of just over 300+ officers when our staffing and manning requirements call for 900+. Another example of his care and concern for our city. I was involved in the last Mayoral election and saw first had how he used City employees to remove and destroy the Campaign signs of his opponent, using city Employees on City time with Our tax dollars, to run his campaign. This man has lied to us, misused City funds, and manipulated the city council, to see to it that his policies are instituted and carried out, He has hired the worst Police Chief that has been involved in multiple scandals in his Dept. while allowing one of the best Police Chiefs this city has ever had to step down because of his nepotism and personal feelings. This is not my opinion this is the overwhelming opinion of the Officers of APD.
Central Ave. is Dangerous and deplorable, You dare not take your family down there for fear of being accosted, assaulted, and or robbed by the uncontrolled vagrants and homeless. The illegals, gangs, and drugs are rampant in our city and schools. But he will put on his patent Mayor Tim Keller smile and tell you everything is getting better all the while looking for ways that he can raise our taxes.
We have to have a change if we hope to bring our beautiful city back to anywhere near what it used to be. Citizens of Albuquerque he won the elections with a turn out of a little over 20% of the registered voters of the city and most of them were from the Heights. Please this election look at the candidates and their records and make a vote for our Fair city I implore you.
A Very concerned Citizen

Kellar has done very little to solve ABQs problems. He is not good. Hey, I am betting the left will vote him in again. It seems like they don’t care about results. Rather, they blindly support their party. It’s sad.
For the love of all that is good, we have to get rid of this guy.
Keller is a loser
More like relentless problem creators. Please, Keller. The citizens of Albuquerque have endured too much already.
